Paying My Respects

Sheepishly, I look at my “new post” screen. The empty screen of my blog which hasn’t been posted to since November, a month is like 7 billion light years on the internet. By the way, dear reader, you should read this with a Bronx accent, it’s a character I’m working on. Anyhow. “I’ve been writing.” I’m working on the screenplay I would write if I died tomorrow. This said by my writing teacher when I couldn’t decide what I wanted to write. He told us, he says, “if you died tomorrow and you could have written one thing? what would it be?” So, that’s what I’m writin’, my “bucket list screenplay.” I paid a lot of green for this class so I could be accountable. I think it’s working.

Earlier this fall, I enrolled in the UCLA Professional Program which is a 1 year writing program for screenwriting and while I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to act (my day job) AND write (my part-time job), I’ve found that it’s all been OK. Funny how life and expectations can sometimes work out. Maybe it’s what I really wanted after-all. Somebody in the class asked if it was OK for them to mention that I was taking the class…why not? Writing is an honorable profession, ain’t it?

I delivered my first 30 pages this past week and I’m still itchin’ to keep going even though I’ve got an acting commitment on my plate for next week, hence my internal “bronx” rhythms. I decided to visit my blog because it’s like a death in the family when you don’t post to your blog and sometimes…you need to pay your respects. So here I am. Respects to ya.

I’ve been enjoying writing. More than I really understand at the moment. It feels good, like a nice heel that’s comfortable, wearable but sexy too. Ring. Ring. Don’t answer, don’t answer. I answer. “Whaddya doin’” “I’m writing.” “That’s awesome.” “BYE!” Wow, that was easy.

I’m posting this interview that was hosted by Taiwan543.net. I decided to break in my new glasses. Remember the ones I was wearing in this post?
I loved these glasses. Everybody always asked me what school I went to when I wore them. Well, I lost ‘em at the airport coming back from KNIFE FIGHT and I had to get new ones. My new ones in the posted interview are a little heavier, but I thought I’d do a little 80′s homage with the tie and all. Could I have been a character in the Breakfast Club? Not with this accent.

Enjoy.

Happy holidays youse crazy guys.

love,
‘chelle
