My 2018 Oscar’s Website Speech
In the time that I began attempting to redesign my site, I’ve had my second child, my coder had her second child, my designer faced health problems with his partner, my brother got cancer, beat cancer and then last fall, I lost my father. It has been 2+years. Epic is an overused word. In this case, it is not! It has been epic.
Life continues to happen with or without you.
So here I am, elated and exhausted, taking a moment to thank all of the people involved. First and foremost Duong Nguyen, my incredible coder who has stood by me for the last many many years, too many to count. In addition to having major skills and much patience, she has been working end to end on coding a very difficult template. Duong is a full time working mother of two and she has been working on my site in her off hours for over a year. You have to be a parent with kids to really fully appreciate what this truly means. Duong – you are wonder woman.
“I told you to go with a template.”
David Tran, every time you explained what you were coding on Slack, I’d reply with “I have no idea what you’re talking about, nanoo, nanoo,” and you still managed to not make fun of me. Thank you!
To my primary photographers who have been shooting me since I was a kid. An innocent. Mimi Haddon, Corey Hayes, Thank you! Their stamp is all over this site. Please check out their work. Mimi is now a fiber artist and Corey does beautiful portraits in addition to going on missions in Africa. Tanuj Chopra, my constant media adviser and friend, has been helping me with PAL. PAL is still a work in progress, but we will continue to add to that page as we get closer to starting classes in the studio space in the fall.
Fred Scales, the mind behind Kemrexx, loaned me his original music. Check out his music.
Bob Jesser, another wonderful friend, has constantly been helping me create media, videos, photoshop, you name it. I cannot have been luckier to have found you as a friend. Bob stays at my house from time to time. Sometimes, he sheds, but I love you, Bob!
Here’s to the many adventures we’ll take on this ship.
