Chinglish moves to South Coast Repertory

Chinglish Sign Taikang Lu

Having spent a month in China recently, signs like these are wonderful little surprises. I believe this one is suggesting that there are more than toilets down this little alley. My favorite sign was this one.
Western Toilets Do and Don'tsI really did wonder if it was a joke or if it was truly a sincere attempt at showing you how to not use a western toilet. But the truth is, I could have used one of these when I first came to the U.S. Yes, I remember when I first moved to America, I would squat on top of the toilet seat which also accounts…for my very strong thighs.

If you’re wondering what signs have to do with Chinglish, come see the show!

This is the second city in our Berkeley Rep/South Coast Rep co-production. Catch us now before we head off to the Hong Kong Arts Festival. Tickets for both venues are selling very quickly so I highly recommend buying tickets now and getting the good seats, before they sell out.
