Open This!

We opened last night! And this is my first morning where I’ve begun to notice the sun and clouds and also the smell in my apartment that suggests I now need to address some housekeeping issues…. Something in the garbage is rrr-ipe.

Chinglish opened to a packed house! We’ve had great previews and the audiences have been really funny. Really terrific, giving, laughing audiences (this is a romantic-ish comedy). And they’ve been vocal like — “black audience” vocal, you know talking back at us on stage throughout, telling us stuff like, “oh, no you didn’t” and “I get you, girl.”

Opening night is particularly special because of all the goodies and sentiment everyone brings for the occasion and while we’re racing to get to opening night, for the cast…it’s just the beginning.

If you’d like to see some stage magic, literally, the set is spectacular, I encourage you to come see this production, this ensemble is different, wonderful and I think you’ll come to appreciate and understand the humor and poignancy that is David Henry Hwang.
